For several years we have been committed to a philosophy of sustainable development in both our internal and external business operations, as we consider this to be an essential factor in our development as a company. It is an on-going action set out in a programme which defines our objectives and notes our progress.

2000 to 2009: sustainable development on an island

The creation of Groix & Nature in 2000 was the foundation stone of our commitment. The aim of Groix et Nature is to preserve and revive the traditional skills and expertise of canning, to create much-needed jobs on the island, to generate added value for local raw materials and to preserve and produce the best that nature can offer from our surroundings - the sea.
Groix & Nature today represents 7 jobs on the island, 2 associated jobs, 40 tonnes of raw materials from local fishing and 500,000 jars sold in France and abroad which bear witness to the exceptional richness and the influence of an island which is unique in Brittany.

Since 2005: support for the local food bank

Today's consumer economy causes great social disparities particularly amongst vulnerable people. One of our principles is that our food should be available to as many people as possible. In spite of careful production planning, our forecasts are occasionally incorrect resulting in excess stocks. We donate all these excess stocks to the Quimper Food Bank on a weekly basis so that they can be used for the benefit of families in difficulty. We are totally aware that we are not solving the overall problem, but we are firmly committed to lightening the load where we can.

2008: A regional, logistic centre to reduce our carbon footprint by 20%

Operating 6 production sites means a large number of energy-consuming trucks on the road. We decided to rationalise the movement of our products in order to improve the quality of their impact on the environment and for the well-being of our customers. The creation of our regional logistic centre at Trégourez has been a major step in this direction.

2010: Our latest project is well under way

Our latest project focuses on gradual optimization of all the component parts of our products and their packaging in order to minimize the amount of waste generated by the end-users.
